Hello, my name is Kaat. Twenty three years ago I was born in Belgium, a small country in Western Europe. Belgium has three national languages. In Flanders, the Northern part where I live people speak Dutch so this is my mother tongue. In the South they speak French and in the East German. I grew up close to the capital of Europe in a small multilingual country so even as a child I encountered a lot of different cultures. My parents took me on trips to al corners of Europe which was amazing and got me into travelling. When I got older I started to broaden my horizon, mainly in the direction of Asia.

In 2009, when I was 17 years old, I started teacher training college. At the moment I'm a qualified teacher in biology, mathematics and physics. I'm currently studying "International cooperation" and plan to graduate in June 2015.

Teaching is my biggest passion, but I also love to travel. The last couple of years I've been trying to combine them both. For me that's the best way to really get to know a culture. I went to Austria with an exchange program, to Cambodia and Indonesia as a volunteer and now I'm in Sri Lanka to do my internship in international cooperation. The picture above shows how my life has pretty much been like since 2012: schoolbooks and beautiful places.

Since the amount of blogs I created became to big, I decided to build a website with an overview of the places abroad where I lived, what kind of work I did there and which places I visited in my free time. The website is currently under construction, I started with creating the pages about Sri Lanka since most of my family and friends are very eager to hear about what I'm doing here at the moment. I made those pages pretty fast, because life's very busy here, so there will propably be some mistakes. Please feel free to give feedback. My English knowledge is sufficient to teach in developing countries, but I'm definitely not a native speaker.

I hope you'll enjoy my stories the way I do.
